Happy New Year

Let me start off by saying Happy New Year to everyone. May you and your family be blessed with love and happiness all year long. With that being said, I am curious if the first week of the New Year will dictate how the rest of the year will go. Early Tuesday morning I woke up to some very excruciating pain. To put this in perspective, it felt far worse than labor pains. I was vomiting and sweating buckets. After a short call put into the family doc Rodney and I were off to the emergency room expecting fluids and pain meds for what we both thought were kidney stones. Because the ER doc knows more than me, surprise surprise, a CT was done. Just as he thought appendicitis was the culprit. So I had a date with the surgeon for Tuesday morning and I was sent up to my semiprivate room. A semiprivate hospital room is somewhat of an oxymoron. I knew my roommate's first and last name, diagnosis, at least 5 of her medications and that someone had decided to change their dosage during her hospital stay. She was none to happy about this and believed this is why she was so sick. I also knew her plan of care. TMI people!! One would think that in 2011 and with HIPPA rules that semiprivate rooms would be a thing of the past. Not so, not so!! It was terrible, I was sharing a room with a loud mouth with tons of visitors. I just wanted out of there. Lucky for me surgery went of without a hitch and I was discharged the next day. I feel tired and like someone jumped up and down on my stomach but I am otherwise healthy. Thanks so much to my family and friends who called, came by to visit, or helped Rodney with the children. So maybe this first week will dictate how the rest of my year will be; full of friends, family, luck and love. I sure hope so!
